What is the difference between a Merlin and an Ultra Cast shower tray?
The Merlin is an acrylic resin tray with inserts for adjustable legs.
The Ultra Cast is an acrylic resin tray without inserts for adjustable legs
How do I know if I want a left or right hand offset Quad?
Draw the shape of your room. In the corner where the tray is to be located draw the two straight edges of the tray. Now draw the curved side of the tray.
Rotate the paper so that the corner of the tray is nearest to you.
If the curve is on the left that is a left hand offset quad. If the curve is on the right that is a right hand offset quad.
What is the actual size of the tray, i.e. is it actually 1200 x 800?
Yes, the outer edge of the rim or top of the tray does measure 1200 x 800. However, the outer walls taper out making the bottom of the tray 5mm to 8mm larger.
What is the internal depth of a tray?
The internal depth varies as the base of the tray slops towards the waste.

Do we make bespoke trays?
Our extensive ranges do cover most sizes of shower tray. However, if there is a specific size you require and it is not listed please contact us we are constantly reviewing the sizes we offer and this may be an option we are looking to include.
If you are looking at fitting an unusual size of shower tray, you will also need to consider what enclosure you are going to install with it as most of these conform to standard sizes.
Can you drill holes in a tray?
Although it is possible to drill holes in to our shower trays, we do not recommend doing so. In addition, it should be noted that this will invalidate our manufacturer's warranty.
Can I remove a mark or scuff from the tray even after it is fitted?
Yes, we would recommend a non abrasive cleaning agent. If this does not work refer to a professional such as Plastic Doctor.
Can I repair a dent or scratch in the tray?
Yes, depending on severity. We do supply repair kits, however, these are only available in white. These can be used on our JTUltra Cast, JTMerlin, JTBreeze and JT40 Fusion shower trays.
Please note, these are not suitable for trays supplied by other manufacturers.
The JTNaturals Collection are solid surface products and as such the colour will be solid throughout the item. We do not supply any repair kits for these.
Why do we make trays with 4 upstands and what are upstands for?
The presence of upstands on a tray are to create a watertight shower.
We supply trays of various designs with different combinations of upstands.
A tray with 4 upstands is tiled on three sides, tiling over the upstand. On the fourth side the frame for the shower door is fitted inside the upstand giving a completely watertight shower.
The 760 square size is available with 2, 3 or 4 upstands.
A tray with 2 upstands (a quad or neo-quad) is tiled on the two straight sides, tiling over the upstands. On the curved side the shower doorframe is fitted.
Can you change the position of the waste?
No, the waste position is governed by the aluminium tool used to form the outer skin of the tray. However, a square tray can be rotated to place the waste in the required corner.
How many legs does a tray have?
This depends upon the size of the tray:
Merlin |
Breeze |
Fusion |
|
| Less than 1200mm | 4 legs |
8 legs |
6 legs |
| Greater than 1200mm | 11 legs |
||
| 1200 & 1400mm | 8 legs |
||
| 1400mm | 6 legs |
||
| Greater than 1400mm | 8 legs |
10 legs |
Please note that trays with 6, 8 and 10 legs have the legs on the longest sides.
How much can the legs be adjusted by?
We recommend that they only be adjusted sufficiently to level the tray on an uneven floor and used with our panels provided. Excessive height adjustment may affect the stability of the tray.
How far are the legs from the edge of the tray?
The legs on a Merlin tray are approximately 100mm from the edge of the tray.
On a Breeze tray they are located under the shoulder and also nearer the centre of the tray.
Fusion tray legs are approximately 95mm from the edge of the tray.
What is the angle in the Neo trays?
The angle is 135 degrees.
What is the flow rate the shower can handle?
This depends on the trap fitted to the waste and the plumbing application i.e. pipe diameters, length and fall of pipes etc.
Both the JTFlow 50mm waste and the JT40 90mm waste are designed to give 36 litres/minute flow.
The JTLinear waste has a flow rate of 50 litres/minute.
